    Alternative Medications and Support

My name is Annie I am a 21 year old college student and have lived with cystic fibrosis all of my life. I was also diagnosed with diabetes (caused by the cystic fibrosis) when I was 13. Growing up I was a fairly healthy child (comparatively speaking) however over the past 4 years my health has slowly deteriorated. I just got out of the hospital a little over a week ago and after a more then trying hospital stay in which I seemed to battle medical bureaucracy more so then my actual disease and lung infection I have decided enough is enough. I want to take my own medical care into my hands. I am tired of being so damn depressed about being sick and I just want to get better, at least as healthy as I can considering my afflictions.

The reason I am posting this message is for two fold:
    1) I am looking for anyone who can give me some advice on alternative medicines and therapies they have tried. Herbs, therapies , foods anything you can think of.
    2) I am looking for overall support. I don't know too many people with CF nor do I know many people who have dealt with what I am dealing with. I know I need a better support group when it comes to this and I have come to realize no own is going to help me but me.

I really appreciate you taking the time out and reading my concerns and I hope whomever reads this is doing well them selves.

The easiest way to get a hold of me is via e-mail. Thanks so much for all your help, sending all my love and best wishes out to the online universe.
Hope to speak to you soon,
    -Annie

    Alternative Medications and Support

HI Annie, and welcome. I hope that you find the support you are looking for here. There are quite a few people on here who use a variety of herbs and suppliments for their CF. Personally I already take so many vitamins that my stomach has a hard time keeping them in there without getting sick.

I have tried accupuncture though. I started going for a nagging pain in my back, but the Dr. treated me for my lung problems, headaches, and depression as well. I loved it. I felt so good after each session. I was coughing up more stuff, my energy was better, it was great.
