Does any one know what actually causes the bloating?

    Bloating

I sure wish I knew. My belly gets bloated even when I take my enzymes.

    Bloating

I personally think it is a combination of many things. Some of us have issues with the entire digestive system. Gall bladder, liver, intestinal tract. Depending on the cf I think it varies. I also think that it could be food allergy related if you eat wheat products and you are allergic it is normal to bloat up for anyone (even people without CF). If you have yeast in the bowel bloating is normal for lots of people even without cf too.

I believe if your posture is bad then the belly will look more distended than normal.

How does your belly look after your bowel movements are normal. If you are not eliminating enough your belly will be bloated.

There can be eight pounds of crapola in your gut at anytime.

I am not sure about this one but I think it is possible if you are not eliminating a good rate and you tons of fiber then you can bloat up.

Certain beverages that cause gas will bloat you up.

    I am done, anyone else

    Bloating

From what I understand, the bloating is caused by the gas that is given off as the little "bugs" in our gut chow down on what we eat. Since many of us take a variety of antibiotics at any given time, the natural balance of flora in our intestine is out of whack.

Personally I've noticed a huge improvement with the bloating when I stick to smaller, frequent meals, and when I have a bit of yogurt in the morning. Incidentally, I'm rarely constipated. I have the opposite problem most of the time.

Gas, not enough enzymes, fatty foods...

Here's another thought that was brought to my attention by a nutritionist once.

Remember in high school when you did the experiment of mixing vinegar and baking soda? Boom.

Eating yeasts and carbs while eating proteins (meat and dairy) at the same time has the same affect in the gut as combining vinegar and b soda. Because they are essentially the same thing. If you have enough natural enzymes to break it down, no prob. In my case, I dont so I try very hard not to combine my proteins and my carbs. It's called the food combining diet. It can help with gas, reflux, and other GI issues.
