Ok so this might be a stupid question but bear with me <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

HTS is that only 7% and 10% saline or does 3% count too? I go to my clinic in September and I wanted to ask my DR about starting it since it seems almost all of you have had great results with it but I don't want to look stupid and uninformed by asking for it.

I am also a little nervous to go higher because I notice that my throat is scratchy after the 3% so I can only imagine what the higher concentration can do to it? BUT at the same time I know the difference I feel using the 3% and what I can get up so it would probably be more with the higher....I guess I just need to weigh the odds on that one? So my second question is does anyone have the scratchy throat problem from the HTS?

Thanks!!

I believe 3% 7% & 10% are all hypertonic. I think normal saline is something like .09%

My kids are on 7% and 5% and neither say they have a scratchy throat because of it. Everyone reacts to the saline differently. Some people just cannot take the 7%. It is my understanding that the optimal results are reached when using 7% but not everyone can get there, so you will still get benefits even at the lower %. I don't think it hurts to try and go up... you may not find any difference in your throat feeling, but you may benefit from getting the 7%. I say, give it a shot!

My 9 year old son started HTS about a month ago. The first couple of weeks he coughed almost constantly through his treatments, but now he is adjusting to it and not coughing as much. We are finally getting "gunk" out when he coughs. I am actually going to ask if we can try the 7% at our next appt to see how he tolerates it. It seems like every day he is building more of a tolerance to the 3%.
