Seems like I post a lot of these.
Interesting medical 'breakthrough.'

SCIENTISTS will be able to grow new organs inside the human body after an Australian medical breakthrough that could revolutionise the treatment of heart disease and breast cancer.
In a world first, a team of Melbourne surgeons and scientists has grown "three-dimensional" cells from human tissue inside a plastic chamber - the initial step in creating replacement organs and injured body parts.

Scientists had previously only been able to create "two-dimensional" constructions, such as skin, in a laboratory setting. It continues on in the article.

I've always thought that if I ever got a lung transplant down the road, it would be my own lungs grown in a lab - with the CF mutuation corrected.....

Great article.

I mentioned a talk on this a few weeks ago. It has to do with stem cell research, and a doc in Melbourne suggested that parents that have a child w/cf and are planning on coceiving another via PGD, are encouraged to keep the new born babies stem cells fot this paricular reeason. As it might be of big help to your baby w/cf, only offcourse if its a match.
I also posted a limk to this study, i tink it was called stem cell research.

Thanks Candice extra info.
