<i>For fast-acting relief, try slowing down. --Lily Tomlin

I'm trying to eat more fruits. I think my body chemistry is a bit out of whack because I'm craving things that aren't good for me. So, instead of reaching for the thing I think I want, I am feeding myself what I know my body needs. Right now I'm eating a banana, which is good for my mental health as well sine it contains serotonin (a natural "upper"). Since I've been struggling mightily with depression and anxiety of late, I think I need all the help I can get in that department.

They are also high in L-tryptophan and when I take them at night, I become sleepy. Instead of taking a sleeping pill in the hospital, I asked for bananas lol. All the doctors were impressed that all I needed was a banana. I was also losing potassium because of the lasix and eating three bananas a day did it for me.

The inside peel is very beneficial for inflammed skin. When my feet were really sore from the meds, I put the cold banana peel on my feet and it reduced the redness and swelling. Of course, I wore socks and slippers because I did not want to take a flying flop. lol

Now that my body is well balanced, I try and have a banana at least once per day and I usually take them with my medications since I do not take them on a empty stomach. They work better with food.

Bananas for some people can contribute to migraines.
