Yes....my GYN told me it was the hormone progesterone. As my period comes I feels much better. Dr told me try low dose of Lasix (water pill) to relieve some of fludid retention in lungs. Found it helps a little. Interestingly enough I am 5 months pregnant and have found similiar breathing problems due i guess to the increase of progesterone in pregnancy. (Not to mention them pressing up on diaphrame and lungs)KathiPS not much studies or information on this, but there is on asthmatic women with high rates of er treatments around their time of month.

Your hormones can get bacteria excited. Also, arthritis can flare up more when you mensturate. If you use birth control: I've found the depo-provera shot to work well, and my cf doc says it's the one patients respond best to. I don't mensturate with it, and this is totally normal, and since it doesn't go through your digestive system, you don't have to worry about it directly interacting w/ other meds or malabsorbtion.Debbie22 yr old w/ cf
