Just a random thought; but my husband and I were noting that our daughter with CF is a solid kid, weight wise right now. Her body has little fat but when you pick her up she feels strong and solid; with good muscle tone. Though looking at her, one may think she is skinny when you pick her up she feels heavy. My husband was commenting the constant use of the VEST must make her core strong, that she is likely very muscular inside. She also eats a very high protein and high fat diet. Any thoughts on if the VEST make you muscular from the constant pounding? A weird thought I know but interesting to me

Well, I certainly have no evidence, but I'll share the same observation about my daughter! At 4, you can tell just by looking at her that she is "solid." Not fat, but muscular. Comparing her to the other little girls in their dance class leotards is kind of like comparing Olympic speed skaters to the kids at the neighborhood basketball court. She just looks "ripped." (not sure that's good for a 4 year old girl!)

She feels much heavier than she looks, too. It's getting to the point that I can't carry her upstairs if she's fallen asleep during her vest.

Apparently, she's a tough cookie, too, as she took on the preschool bully yesterday. Gave him a shove as he was pestering her, sent him flying into a filing cabinet. He has a gash on his forhead. Uuuugh. Why my kid?

That's funny you should say that, our daughter doesn't use a vest yet (she's about to turn a year on saturday), but everyone who picks her up always says she is "deceptively heavy." Ever since she was a baby she's been solid.

Oh, how i WISH the vest would strengthen my core!! It might do it on the little tots, but if you saw my mid-section, you'd be laughing too.

I don't know how much your babies cough, but my gut (no pun intended ;-) tells me that the coughing is more likely the cause of their impressive abs.

I wish the vest gave me a stronger core... mine is quite pathetic. I feel the coughing in my core though.

I don't think the vest gives me a stronger core...although maybe if it did, I'd actually WANT to use it more

I deliberately work on my core at the gym and it still needs a lot of work...I wish the vest helped though!
